Role and Responsibilities

Summer associates will receive an excellent introduction to Lazard Middle Market’s full-time associate program.  At the onset of the 10-week internship, summer associates participate in a training program that will provide them with a strong foundation in the skills they need to be successful at Lazard Middle Market.  This training is then supplemented by the experience of working with a broad variety of professionals on a wide range of assignments in multiple industry sectors throughout the summer.  The summer associate serves as a key member of the deal team, working directly with managing directors, directors, vice presidents and analysts on engagements. The summer associate will be given significant responsibility and will gain in-depth transaction experience, client exposure, negotiation skills, and an understanding of transaction structures.

In most assignments, the summer associate will assist in the following:

  • Preparation of and participation in new business presentations
  • Business research
  • Valuation analysis and financial modeling
  • Preparation of Confidential Offering Memoranda
  • Development of potential buyer lists
  • Preparation of management presentations

In cases of demonstrated performance and potential, Lazard Middle Market may extend employment offers for its full-time associate position.

Qualified candidates typically possess a combination of the following attributes:

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior work experience in corporate development, public accounting or finance preferred
  • Currently matriculated at a MBA or equivalent graduate degree program
  • Graduating in December 2020 or Spring 2021
  • Outstanding undergraduate and graduate academic performance (minimum of 3.5 GPA / 650 GMAT preferred)
